About us

Get to know the team using emerging technologies to bridge the healthcare system’s geography gap.

There are entire counties in the Midwest that don’t have access to a healthcare provider.

We’re working to change that.

AET was founded by Dr. Keith Vrbicky in 1999. After completing his residency in a metropolitan area, Dr. Vrbicky set up an independent practice in a rural community. He quickly became frustrated as his patients had to make long commutes into the metro area to access quality care – so he set up a makeshift telemedicine system long before it was an industry standard, streaming ultrasounds to other providers so his patients didn’t have to commute for quality care.

Since then, AET has become a leader in developing health technologies that bridge the distance gap. Our products and services improve access to healthcare services, decrease wait times, open up options for second opinions regardless of geography, and increase the ease of using specialty care and concierge medicine.

Our mission

To develop, implement, and leverage emerging technology to provide better and more affordable access to healthcare and education.

OUR VALUES

Care for People

Our business was built to improve access to quality care for patients, and that focus still drives what we do more than two decades later. We’re a people-first company, and that shines through in how we interact with patients, our partners, and our own team.

Honesty and Integrity

Our Midwestern roots manifest as our commitment to doing what’s right, even when it’s not what’s easy. We prioritize transparency and authenticity, and balance it with warmth and genuine care, because we believe that’s the best way to do business.

Access to Innovation

We see technology as a tool to improve the lives of rural communities that aren’t typically the first beneficiaries of medical advancements. While innovations like telemedicine might seem commonplace for urbanites, for rural communities without access to care, it can be life-changing.

“Some rural areas have characteristics that put residents at higher risk of death, such as long travel distances to specialty and emergency care or exposures to specific environmental hazards.”

– The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
